This season, the specialized military production department of the American company Smith Optics, the Smith Optics Elite trademark, introduced two new series of goggles at once — Discord Elite and Dragstrip Elite, which combine the style of everyday sunglasses with a modern level of eye protection both from possible mechanical damage and the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.
Both models are made in the same style and from identical materials, the main difference is only in the height and width of the frame, and the size of the ballistic lenses, respectively. The lens width of the Discord Elite is 64mm, the height is 41mm, the bridge of the nose is exactly 14mm wide, and the temple length is 125mm. In the Dragstrip Elite version, the lens width also reaches 64 mm, but the height is 46 mm, the bridge of the nose is 16 mm wide and the temple length is at least 130 mm. The frames and temples of both versions are made of high-impact polymer, and are complemented by anti-slip inserts made of Megol soft rubber.
The protective polycarbonate lenses of the Discord Elite and Dragstrip Elite goggles are made using Tapered Lens Technology, which eliminates distortion of the “picture” by gradually reducing the thickness of the lens from the center to the edge. The lens protection level meets the MIL-PRF-31013 (clause 184.108.40.206) and ANSI Z87.1 standards, which guarantees reliable protection of the eyes from mechanical damage, including high-speed fragmentation, as well as full protection against ultraviolet radiation (UVA / UVB/UVC).
Protective lenses in Discord Elite and Dragstrip Elite are non-replaceable, so the glasses are offered in six lens colors at once (Clear, Gray, Ignitor, Polarized Gray, ChromaPop + Elite Polarized Gray Green, ChromaPop + Elite Polarized Blue Mirror), frames and temples in all options exclusively in black. The glasses are priced the same and depending on the type of protective lenses you choose, the price ranges from $119 to $230.
