The Gerber brand today announced the start of accepting pre-orders for an updated limited edition of the Gerber StrongArm utility knives. The basic model of the fixed blade universal field knife, as you know, was introduced back in 2014 and is still one of the brand’s flagship series. The color of the handle has changed in the limited version, and a different steel has been used..

The full-tail blade of the updated model is made of Carpenter CTS BDZ-1 martensitic steel (base models use 420HC steel), which is designed for razors and utility knives, and is characterized by good corrosion resistance, high hardness and cutting edge wear resistance, and at the same time without much effort amenable to processing. The hardness of the steel used is declared within 59-60 units on the HRC scale.

The two-component handle of the knife, as before, is formed by a base layer of glass-reinforced nylon and an outer rubberized material with an anti-slip texture. The design of the handle, which has an ergonomic structure adapted to both the right and left hand, provides for fastening for a lanyard, impact glass, as well as a patented fastening for the included polymer sheath.
