Today, Gerber Gear has introduced a new series of knives from the collection of folding everyday knives made in the United States, the series is called US-Assist, and so far it includes only one model of folding pocket knife — US-Assist S30V. The novelty is positioned as a comfortable and reliable everyday knife with a new BOSS Tech ball bearing system that provides a smoother and faster blade extraction..
The polished blade of the US-Assist S30V model, as the name implies, is made using CPM S30V powder corrosion-resistant steel, which is characterized by high impact strength, good wear resistance with a hardness of 58-60 HRC. To remove the blade, a wide peg is provided, which is complemented by the BOSS Tech system, the blade is blocked in the open and closed position by the push-button Plunge-lock mechanism.
The handle of the US-Assist S30V folding knife is formed by a metal spacer and two slips of durable glass-fibre reinforced nylon. To fix the lining, bolts are used for standard Torx type slots. The design of the handle includes a small clip that can be fixed in two positions, as well as a small hole for a lanyard.
In the open form, the total length of the presented pocket knife is almost 183 mm, the length of the folded knife is no more than 107 mm, the length of the Drop-Point blade itself is 76 mm. The maximum thickness of the blade on the butt and the total weight of the novelty has not yet been specified.
Free sales of the Gerber US-Assist S30V should start in November 2016, the estimated cost is $90, a model with 420HC steel is also expected, the price of which will not exceed $75.
