In spring 2021, Merrell’s running shoe collection, in addition to the already introduced Moab Speed and Moab Flight, will be replenished with the fourth generation of the highly popular Agility Peak trail running shoe. The new model, which received an updated upper and a completely redesigned sole, is designed for cross-country running for medium and long distances, including relatively difficult routes in the foothills and mountainous terrain. In addition to running, this model can also be considered as a hiking and speed hiking shoe in the warm season..
If we compare the Agility Peak 4 with the previous generation, the main update has affected the sole. The outsole of the novelty has become wider, increasing the contact area, the EVA midsole has been replaced with a lighter, softer and more wear-resistant FloatPro foam, which is complemented by a flexible and protective full-length FlexPlate arch support. The sole of the sneakers, as before, is created using FLEXconnect technology, and is made of tenacious Vibram MegaGrip material. The height difference between the heel and toe is no more than 6 mm (toe 24 mm, heel 30 mm).
The upper part of the new running shoes has also received a few changes. In the new version, the design of the tongue-flap has been improved, the outer protective TPU «welt» has become thinner and more flexible, as well as a completely redesigned lacing system, which, according to the manufacturer, has become more comfortable and designed for heavy loads. To form the upper part, a more durable material with a mesh structure is now used, but without losing the level of vapor permeability.
The new Merrell Agility Peak 4 running shoe is expected to go on sale in spring 2021 for a suggested retail price of around $140. Both men’s and women’s versions will be available for order in three color options to choose from. The average weight of a pair of men’s sneakers (43 EU) will be about 580 grams.
