The BBC has posted a short five-minute video that shows in some detail the elements of uniforms, equipment and weapons of the British military during the First World War (1914 — 1918), as well as a brief comparison with the uniforms and equipment of the military of the German Empire.

The British Empire went through the First World War as part of the Entente military-political bloc. The total losses during the war years amounted to 876,084 people, of which 418,361 people fell directly in battle, 167,172 died from their wounds, 113,173 people died due to diseases and injuries incompatible with life, about 161,046 were missing and 16,332 people died while in captivity.
