Next season, the Swiss brand Katadyn plans to expand its collection of Katadyn BeFree System membrane filtration systems, which was first introduced in 2016 (Katadyn BeFree 0.6L), with two new products — BeFree 1.0L and BeFree 3.0L. The presented novelties differ from each other only in the design and useful volume of the tanks provided, which were developed by Hydrapak..
Compared to last year’s Katadyn BeFree 0.6L kit, the BeFree 1.0L (29 x 9 x 7 cm, 65g) and BeFree 3.0L (37 x 23 cm, 99g) versions differ only in their one and three liter reservoirs, respectively. In addition, the BeFree 3.0L, which weighs only 100 grams, has a padded carrying handle and two lanyard holes. The tanks are made of translucent, flexible and elastic polypropylene, which is BPA-free.
The basis of the new systems is still the same membrane filter EZ-Clean Membrane, which is interchangeable between sets. According to the manufacturer, this membrane filter, whose tube pores do not exceed 0.10 microns, is able to purify about 1000 liters of water from 99.9999% of all known bacteria, 99.9% of parasites, and other microorganisms according to the latest standards of the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency, United States Environmental Protection Agency).
Free sales of the presented filtration systems Katadyn BeFree 1.0L and Katadyn BeFree 3.0L should begin towards the end of this year, or in the first half of next, the approximate recommended cost will be about 45 and 60 dollars, respectively.
