Gerber Gear continues to demonstrate its new products, which will be available for sale in the near future. Following the new series of hunting knives, the manufacturer will expand its collection of outdoor tools with the original DoubleDown Folding Machete. The presented novelty stands out for its folding mechanism, which is made in the style of a balisong, or a butterfly knife, which allows you to quickly bring the tool into a compact transport form..
The DoubleDown Folding Machete blade, which is available in a tumble-brushed or full black finish, is crafted using 4mm 420HC stainless steel. The hardness of the steel used is in the range of 56-58 HRC. The total length of the blade, which has a Drop-Point shape with additional butt kerfs for more effective batoning, does not exceed 171 mm.
In addition to the execution in the form of a butterfly knife, the novelty stands out for its locking mechanism, which has received the commercial name QuadLock. The lock, which is implemented by two pressure plates and a classic latch lock, prevents accidental, uncontrolled opening of the handle and folding of the blade. The handle itself is made of reinforced polymer and steel liners. The total length of the open knife is no more than 384 mm, the folded length is about 213 mm, the total weight of the product is 510 grams.
To date, the versatile DoubleDown Folding Machete, which will be produced in the United States, has already been announced in three design options (Green, Black, Black-Black). The suggested retail price is set at $120. Free sales should begin in the near future, it will be possible to place an order through the official website of the manufacturer.
