Along with the expansion of the Ribelle mountain boot line, the Scarpa shoe company plans several more new products for 2018, including the second generation of the Scarpa Neutron sneaker, which was designed for both trail running and relatively light hiking. The Neutron 2 version has changed in appearance, has become more secure and has received a completely new sole.
The upper of the new Scarpa Neutron 2 running shoe is crafted from a combination of breathable nylon mesh and an outer TPU shell that provides the support and protection you need. Both materials are water repellent. The heel and toe are reinforced with thicker TPU overlays. Inside the sneaker, a voluminous mesh lining is used (a Gore-Tex version is also planned, but in the second half of 2018) and an anatomical insole with basic arch support.
The sole of the sneaker is built on the basis of the Vibram Genetic II outsole, which is made of tenacious TPU material MegaGrip. The outsole is complemented by an EVA foam midsole and a denser, full-length TPU shank that provides arch support, torsional stiffness, and additional protection from sharp rocks and other bumps.
With the increase in overall protection, the overall weight of the Scarpa Neutron 2 has also increased, with the men’s mid-size pair now weighing almost 670 grams, 80 grams heavier than the base version. Free sales of new sneakers will begin in the spring of 2018, both men’s and women’s versions will be available.
