New Balance, represented by Japanese design group TDS (Tokyo Design Studio), has teamed up with Japanese outdoor brand Snow Peak to create the original Niobium Concept 2 (TDS x Snow Peak Niobium Concept 2) summer sandal as a continuation of last year’s Niobium Capsule Collection. . The upper part of the new sandals is made of a combination of natural leather, thin synthetic mesh and dense webbing that form the axial three-zone suspension system. The suspension system includes German brand FIDLOCK buckles, which allow adjustment and fastening with one hand. Among other things, the design of the suspension system allows you to completely remove the rear binding, transforming sandals into flip-flops.
Similar to the Fresh Foam Hierro v6, the Niobium Concept 2 outsole features Fresh Foam cushioning and a Vibram MegaGrip outsole. The removable anatomical insole has been replaced with a non-removable version with a thin layer of sweat-wicking and quick-drying microfiber on the outside. The height difference between the heel and toe is about 8 mm.
For now, the new TDS x Snow Peak Niobium Concept 2 outdoor sandal comes in just one olive color and is priced at 30,800 Japanese yen, or about $280 USD. So far, it is possible to place an order exclusively through the official website of the Snow Peak brand.
