Amateur table — designed for beginners and is installed both outdoors and indoors. It is usually bought for schools, camps, yards and parks. The design of the amateur table is less rigid than that of the training and professional models. It does not have leg height adjustment. Such a table can be either with wheels (there are no brakes) or without them. Ball rebound — 15-17 cm.

Training (semi-professional) table — used for tennis schools and halls, non-rating competitions, training of athletes and experienced amateurs. In terms of workmanship, durability and reliability, it approaches a professional table. As a rule, it does not have leg height adjustment. Such tables are always equipped with wheels. Used for indoor play only. Ball rebound — 18-24 cm.

Professional table — used for sports (including international); has the most durable, wear-resistant and reliable design, height adjustment of the legs; can be both with wheels (presence of brakes), and without them. Used for indoor play only. Tables of this class are characterized by the uniformity of the rebound of the ball. Ball rebound — 23 cm.

Important: professional table, unlike previous models, fully complies with the rules of ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation). It also has the ability to adjust the height of the legs (adjustment). The adjustment value is up to 3 cm.

Children’s (mini and clamstable) – has a smaller size and weight, easy to transport. Such tables can be used as coffee or dining tables (for example, for a picnic in nature).

You should decide on the playing space — open or closed, since the choice of a specific model and equipment of the playground depends on this.

All weather table — designed for playing outdoors. Such a table is resistant to temperature extremes and harmful external influences (heat, wind, rain, snow). An all-weather table has a long service life, but it has a slightly worse ball bounce than an indoor table.

Table indoor — used for playing in halls and rooms. It is characterized by a very good rebound of the ball. It is also equipped with a net, wheels and special cells in which rackets and balls can be stored.

It is undesirable to use outdoor tennis tables, as this may lead to their premature wear. It is possible to use them for playing outdoors only in summer, but at night they must be brought inside. In this case, you should pay attention to the weight of the table and its design: it should be easy to unfold.

The tennis table has a rectangular shape, its dimensions are (length x width x height, cm):

  • standard — 274 x 152.5x 76;
  • mini-table — 136 x 76 x 65;
  • midi table — 181 x 105 x 76.

table top

DSP/LDSP/MDF — used in the manufacture of tennis tables intended for indoor play. The MDF top is the most resistant to deformation, followed by chipboard and chipboard. The MDF tabletop in combination with a metal profile (edging) has the longest service life.

Melamine / aluminum / moisture resistant plywood – used for the production of all-weather tennis tables. Melamine and aluminum countertops can last up to 50 years.

Kant — a metal rim installed around the perimeter of the tabletop to strengthen its structure. Amateur tables do not have edge; in training (semi-professional) tables there is no edging or its installation is provided during assembly; professional models must have edging.

  • amateur tables have a table top 12, 16 or 18 mm thick: dfor beginners and those who rarely play;
  • training (semi-professional) — 19 or 22 mm: lpeople who play often and have a lot of experience;
  • professional — 25, 28 or 30 mm: for athletes.

Tennis tables for the room have two colors — blue and green. These colors are allowed to be used in competition. Blue color — «gambling», green — soothing. Amateur and training (semi-professional) tables can be both glossy and matte, and professional tables can only be matte.

All-weather tables can have green, blue, brown and gray colors, while the surface can be either matte (most common) or glossy (spectacular in appearance) — the best option for exhibitions and presentations of tennis tables.

Important: In order for the table to retain its color for a long time, it is necessary to wipe it with a soft sponge.

Folding – the advantage of such a table is its compactness. Folding tables allow one person to play by hitting the ball against the upright table top. Amateur tables often need to be folded by two people, training and professional tables are more convenient to fold. Anti-vandal tables do not have a folding system.

Amateur tables are equipped with a grid without the possibility of adjusting its tension and height. The mesh itself is not very reliable and durable. As a rule, it is impossible to install another grid in such models.

Training (semi-professional) can be with or without a net. Professional tables in most cases are supplied without a grid.

The mesh is a wicker cage with mesh sizes in the range of 1.3-1.5 cm. The length of the mesh should be 183 cm, height — 15.25 cm. Its upper edge should be white and have a height of 1.5 cm. A cord is pulled inside that regulates the level of tension.

The mesh is fastened with screw or clip fasteners. Mounting materials — plastic or metal. The color of the grid is arbitrary (usually it is blue, white, black, green).

The weight

The weight of a tennis table is determined by its class:

  • amateur — 55-77 kg;
  • training (semi-professional) — 70-110 kg;
  • professional — 100-160 kg;
  • all-weather — 40-100 kg;
  • midi table — 25-35 kg;
  • mini-table — 10-20 kg.

Among all manufacturers of tennis tables, it is worth highlighting Sponeta, Stiga, Joola, Kettler, Cornilleau, Donic, Adidas. Their products are certified by the International Table Tennis Federation. Such tables are made of quality materials, regardless of the purpose: all-weather or indoor. However, this is especially important for all-weather tables. Reliable tables will last a long time with any intensity of use. However, they are expensive.

A good option for amateur table tennis games will be tables from the brands Torneo, Magic World Workshop, Enebe, GSI-Sport, HouseFit, Inter Atletika, Tibhar, Sporttrust. They are cheaper than the products of the first group. Most often made of chipboard. For games at home or in the country, such tables are enough.
